POSITION: 2nd or 3rd Grade Elementary Teacher LOCATION: Thomas A. Hendricks Elementary Apply at: https://www.scs.shelbycs.org/page/employment ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
Teaches district approved curriculum maps based on the Indiana State Standards
Organizes and presents daily lesson plans that reflect instructional best practices as outlined in school improvement plans or professional
development initiatives
Utilizes the district approved scope and sequence when lesson planning and analyzing data
Attends assigned professional development and implements new practices successfully
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that provide developmentally age appropriate experiences and promote student engagement
Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
Meets the “effective”, “highly effective” rating as it relates to the SCS Teacher Evaluation
Assists in the development and evaluation of curriculum maps
Participates in the textbook adoption process
Regularly uses data to guide educational decisions and instruction
Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
Administers all assessments required by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and complies with Testing Security Policy
Implements strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance
Identifies students’ needs, makes appropriate referrals, and implements appropriate accommodations/interventions as outlined in Individual
Education Plans (IEP), Individual Learning
Plans (ILP), 504 Plans, or Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) Plans
Creates an organized environment conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays, interest/learning centers or exhibits of
student work
Utilizes technology as an instructional, communication, and management tool
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and promote an effective learning atmosphere
Communicates proficiently in English oral and written communication
Communicates and meets with parents as needs
Responds to parents’ inquiries in a timely manner
Contributes to the school as a whole
Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district
Coordinates the work of instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom, school events, and field trips
Maintains knowledge of corporation and school policies
Handles clerical functions/reports related to job responsibilities in a timely manner
Maintains satisfactory attendance
Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
